What is a REIT?

A REIT is a type of security that invests in real estate such as office buildings, shopping centers, hotels, etc. Many are publicly traded on the NYSE while others that are not traded are known as “non-listed”. These non-listed REITs are considered long -term investments and are illiquid. A secondary market for non-listed REITs was created over 20 years ago to help provide liquidity.

What is a Limited Partnership?

A limited partnership is formed by two or more people, where there is at least one general partner and one limited partner. The limited partner has no management authority and is liable for the partnership only to the extent of the amount of money that partner has invested.
